Path: | Belarus / Minsk | Description: | Church of Simon and Helen (popularly Red) was built in 1910 by Edward Voynilovicha merchant money. The temple dedicated to the heavenly patrons of prematurely dead children Voynilovicha Simon and Helen. The architect of the temple was made by Polish architect Payzdersky.
In Soviet times the building housed the Red Church House of Cinema.
In 1990 the church was returned to believers. In 1996, in front of a sculpture of the Archangel Michael, and a few years later a memorial bell of Nagasaki, as a reminder of the Chernobyl disaster. In 2006 the church was in rebury the remains of Edward Voynilovicha.
In the present church of St. Simon and Helena is one of the most beautiful places of Minsk and is included in the list of sights of the Republic of Belarus. |
