After the second partition of Poland, in 1793, Minsk became a part of the Russian Empire. Peter and Paul monastery was abolished. However, the restoration of the dilapidated church building was allocated by Catherine II. After the restoration of the church was named Catherine.
In the war of 1812, Catherine's church was looted by Napoleon's troops. Reconstruction of the church in 1875 but returned briefly to his faithful in a few decades after the Revolution, Catherine church was converted into a warehouse.
After the Restoration in 1979, the church again became known as the name of Peter and Paul. Now Peter and Paul church prayer services, and the temple is one of the oldest and also one of the most beautiful in the city. |
